What is the Birthday Raffle?
During a member's birthday month, they should bring a gift to be raffled with the proceeds going to the chapter. This is one of the fund raising methods to pay for our meeting room, seminars, etc.
Articles in the raffle should be painting related and nicely wrapped.
Some suggestions:
- Anything painted (by you or anyone else). Could be something you bought at a convention, art show, etc.
- A Sun Strokes Gift Certificate redeemable for a future seminar. (always welcome and available from the treasurer).
- Wood items ( a really neat wood piece or two).
- Canvas items and accessories. (canvas covered address books, guestbooks, checkbook covers, brush holders, etc).
- A brush holder - painted or unpainted.
- A book with a wood piece from the book.
- Pattern packet with specific wood piece.
- Painted fabric items.
- Wrap it nicely so that we can't see what it is. We love surprises!
I hope I've given you some ideas. Gifts are opened as they are received so we can all share the excitement.
Not appropriate are non-painting related items. (e.g. soaps, unless you give a set of paints for candles and soaps!).
If you miss your birthday month for any reason, please bring your gift at the next meeting.
Please don't think that you are "not good enough". One of my personal favorites was a "Welcome" sign painted by a member in one of her beginner classes. It hangs in my home today. Remember we were all beginners at one time.
